My Portfolio
A couple of my favorite pieces I've made throughout my career.

Date Made: 05/28/23
Medium: Mixed-Media, alcohol markers, acrylic paint, Prismacolor pencils, string

This piece illustrates my journey through resilience, overcoming a chronic illness that I thought defined me, but I soon made my way and realized I was more than just a victim, I was a fighter. The center of the piece, you can find me blooming out of a sunflower, representing my newfound self and confidence as I live through new experiences and lessons. Symbolically, I used many varieties of mediums, trying out new things instead of being the old person I once was. Although I made this piece in the midst of my relapse, this piece portrayed an outlet for my pain and emotions, and allowed me to find out who I wanted to be. I hope others will find this piece as an emblem, that anyone can overcome their hardest, even though it might seem hard at the time.

The emotions of feeling alone and stressed feel like there's different worlds all caving in all at once. The surrounding leaves represent how emotions can be hidden and are only apparent to oneself, unless revealed by an outsider.

This piece grapples the emotions one may feel as they encounter the troubling issues the world faces today. Especially the worsening effects of climate change on species such as polar bears, and even us, has made it hard to see the beauty in the world.

Though bad things are inevitable, there are always good things that can be learned through the process. Among the bleeding wounds, there are still flowers that are able to grow through. However, it is only achievable through layers, represented through the collage aspects of the piece.

These pieces form a diptych of the connection mothers and humans have with Earth. Mothers and Mother Earth both have something in common, being overused and taken advantage of. Though there is so much to be grateful for, we often overlook the work they’ve done for our health. Flowers portrayed in the background represent the immortality of Mothers’ aid for us as well as the contrasting expressions of color.

Our past experiences are hard to overcome. The only way to forgive is to willingly set your mind to it. And that’s how it is, cutting all your past connections and starting new. Although the branches may have consumed us, it's never to late to save yourself.

This is a portrait highlighting my best friend, Juliana. Everything portrayed in this piece represents who she is and what type of person she is on the inside. The flowers in the background represent the strength and charisma that I admire most about her.
